Reminds me a bit of a guy I drag raced once.  I doubt he had ever raced before--he had a faster car than I did (I was in my SC) but I treed him by over a second off the line and I beat him easily.  As I was about to turn off the track he goes flying by at probably 130 or so, still on the gas.  I have no idea how he got stopped before the sand trap.  Anyway, I advanced, so I pulled back around into the staging lane.  He pulled up right behind me and asked with a straight face "So how do we know who won?"

Ha ha ha me and you need to seriously compare notes. I had a guy do the same thing to except I let off and coasted thru the lights because I had him beat. He blast by me and then slams on the brakes. We turn and I follow him up the return lane we get back to the pits and he stops when I pull in behind my trailer. He backs up and as I was getting out of my car he says "dude that was close but I caught you right there at the end" I just smiled and went about getting the car ready for the next run. 10 minutes later he is back at my trailer all mad and he says "dude their telling me you beat me I was clearly ahead of you at the end" I spent 20 minutes explaining the tree, the lights and how you can lose the race on the line. He bought back in and the next round he was so anxious he red lighted before the second car even got staged. My buddy who was with me told me he was over at the tower complaining he beat that car as well. I got put early that day and I don't even remember who beat me but I remember that day because of that poor guy. Clueless!!!

Funny - but you got to kind of feel for the driver.  Mistakes used to be witnessed by those present - embarrasing enough.  With modern technology, just about everybody out there has a video camera with them at all times.  Now, the world gets to see your most embarrasing moments.

Fortunately, for me, I have never done anything embarrasing in my life.

I beat a guy in a 5-OH Crustang in the Maximia running only nitrious and no turbo.  He was so mad he left the track with out even stopping.  He left his street tires, tool box, jack and his girl friend.  She was pissed.  His buddy came to his spot, threw his crap in the bed of his truck, and congradulated me on the win while laughing his azz off.

I understand the pain... back when I was in the Air Force, I had a 72 Camaro, tubbed, roll cage, tunnel ram with velocity stacks, open headers, etc (yes this was my only car btw)... anyway I would go to a dragstrip on the weekends where they did bracket racing.  I got beat by a brand new (sticker still in window) Chevy Astrovan... I remember the girl at the end of the track giving out the time tickets laughing at me ... ouch my pride.  If I recall correctly that was my last trip to that dragstrip.Ouch
